We just returned home. Melvin was checked out and blood drawn. Then he had acupuncture and a chiropractic adjustment (first time for both). He did ok for the acupuncture, but they had to muzzle him for the chiro…the vet and her assistant were pulling on him from opposite ends to “stretch” him. Reminded me of my most recent Sadri visit. Maybe the bloodwork will show something more serious (I hope not!) but he’s already better than this morning. The vet said his back was really out of alignment. Also some of his ribs. Corgis are prone to back problems. She thought that was causing his pain – especially given that he is eating/drinking/etc as usual. I switched to this vet about a year ago because I wanted Melvin to have a more wholistic approach as he ages. I was unhappy with the assembly line approach at my old vet which seemed more about making $ than providing good care for my dog. I’ll hear the results of the bloodwork in a few days, but I already feel better because they took such good, kind care of him. Oh, and while I was there, camera crews from 11 Alive and Fox 5 were there filming a story about stem-cell treatment. Apparently they are the first, or one of the first, in Georgia to offer this.
Nice, long, hard workout today. Great not to have all the people stuffed in the gym at one time
Muscle up from knees…need to work on these bad boys.
red/red band for HSPU
87lbs for PC
Time: 23.54
Good stuff: I actually did 75 cleans at 88 lbs! They were not pretty but I only missed 2!
Not so good stuff: couldn’t get the MU…need to get practicing again:(
wall ball shots are always hard for me but I do think a higher percentage hit the target
I finished at 30 min exactly with MU practice, 12 lb ball, red/red for HSPU and 88lb for cleans.
I surprised myself tonight. I felt really tired going into the gym and wasn’t too psyched about the long workout…I had no expectations. Turns out that worked in my favor. I was relaxed and just focused on each piece in front of me rather than the entire WOD. Everything felt better and stronger this evening. Working alongside fellow Growlers and feeding off of the good energy helped too.
I need to work on MU turnout and keeping both feet on the wall during HSPUs.
28:24 Rx (except for the lack of turnout and less than perfect HSPUs)
Sadri says no movement with the arms locked OH for awhile. So that will mean even more subbing/scaling than normal. Boo.
Modified as follows:
12 Ring Rows for MU Progression
12 reps Bench Press @88# for HSPU
WB, 12#
PC, 88#
21:46
I can’t make noon today. Something is up with Melvin, and I am taking him to the vet. I plan to come this evening.
Oh no! Tell Melvin I said xoxoxo.

Mods = muscle up practice; pike push ups; 66# cleans; 10# wall ball
In the 30 minutes, did 2 rounds plus 6 MU practice, 30 WB, and 3 pikes.
Wall balls were easier today than usual, and I promoted myself from the 8# to the 10# for this workout. Yay!
Congrats on graduating to 10lb! I’ll be glad when I can consistently get 8lb over the line…
I think I do better when my hips and legs aren’t sore.

You did 75 cleans? I think the workout called for 45. Extra credit?
ooops, you are right – fuzzy math!!
I did kneeling-fake-MUs, 8# wb, blue/red bands for HSPUs and 64# cleans. 22:19
Need to work on wall balls- generally I could get it above the line but not touching the wall or touching the wall and just below the line.
Subbed muscle-up progression for muscleup.
Subbed pike pushup (24″) for HSPU.
Wallballs and Power cleans were RX.
